Removable Appliances

Complete Dentures / Partial Dentures

A denture is a removable appliance that replaces missing teeth and surrounding tissues. There are two types of dentures: complete and partial dentures.

Complete Dentures are used when all of the teeth are missing. They can either be made after teeth have been removed and healing of the gum tissues have occurred or in advance to be delivered the same day the teeth are removed. As a result, the wearer does not have to be without teeth during the healing period.

Partial Dentures are used when some natural teeth remain. Not only does a partial denture fill in the spaces created by missing teeth, it prevents other teeth from changing position. These dentures can also be used during the healing phase before receiving a fixed bridge or implant crowns.

Dental Guards

Most people probably grind and clench their teeth once in a while. However, occasional teeth grinding, is known as bruxism. During the waking hours, it is easy to correct this behavior, but if grinding occurs unconsciously at nighttime, it is difficult to control. If teeth grinding occurs on a regular basis, the teeth can be damaged: fractures or wear may occur, teeth can become loose and other oral health complications can arise. If you are a night-grinder, Dr. Lubin can offer you with a night guard appliance to help reduce stresses in your teeth and facial muscles and help protect your teeth from irreversible damages.
